Q1: How do I measure the effectiveness if I advertise with TVBS-E?
A: CPM (Cost Per Thousand) is a good measurement of advertising effectiveness. For example, if we send sales letters/leaflets to 1,000 targeted people by 1st Class mailing, the CPM is 1,000 x £0.3 = £300. If we advertise on TVBS-E by taking a 30-second Pick-Your-Own Package, the CPM is just 30p per spot. Which means a cost of 30p can deliver your advertising message to 1,000 TVBS-E viewers. (Calculation of TVBS-E CPM (per spot): Spot Rate/No. of direct viewers x 1,000 = £36/120,000 x 1,000 = £0.3.)
   
Q2:

Can I advertise on TVBS-E if my company is not registered in Europe?

A: Yes. TVBS-E welcomes advertisers from all parts of the world. France TVA (19.6%) may not be applied to advertisers outside EU Countries.
   
Q3: What duration of the TV commercial should I choose?
A: A normal duration of a TV commercial is 30 seconds and it is an industry standard. However, you may need a TV commercial with longer duration to deliver your key messages to the audiences, and vice versa, sometimes with shorter duration (e.g. 20 seconds TVC) to meet your own advertising budget requirements.
   
Q4: Can I get cheaper advertising rates?
A: Advertisers can normally get cheaper rates if they order an advertising campaign of over 5 packages of Pick-Your-Own TV Advertising Package or equivalent. Our Advertising Sales Team is very happy to tailor-made a proposal to suit your specific requirements.
   
Q5:

If we place an order to TVBS-E for a TVC production, who will own the copyright?

A: The Chinese Channel Ltd. will own the copyright of the TV commercial. However, the advertiser can own the copyright of the TVC by paying a one-off copyright charge. Please contact the Advertising Sales Team for details.
   
Q6:

Is there any VAT applied on the fees or charges?

A:

Advertiser will normally receive 2 kinds of invoice:

Airtime Invoice: France TVA (19.6%) will be applied on the advertising cost unless the advertiser is able to provide the VAT Registration Number.

Production Invoice: UK VAT (17.5%) will be applied on the production cost.

   
Q7: Do I need to pay a higher advertising rate if the campaign is running with an on-air moving TV commercial instead of a still-frame commercial?
A: No matter what format of production an advertiser has chosen for the TVC, the rate will be the same as agreed on the Advertising Order Form.
   
Q8:

Is there any additional charge if I change the TV commercial or add use other TV commercials during the advertising campaign?

A: No extra cost will be required if an advertiser decides to change the version of the TVC during the campaign period. Please allow at least 3 working days to complete the rescheduling process.
   
Q9:

How do I decide the number of spots per day for my campaign?

A: The advertising frequency depends on the nature of your promotion. If you want to promote a sales promotion or launch a product, we suggest at least 4 TV spots per day. It can create a stronger impact, and is considered more effective in launching an advertising campaign. However, if you want to build or enhance the image or branding or the company or its product, 2-3 TV spots per day for a minimum period of 6 months will be recommended. This will help sustain the brand awareness or the image building to your existing or potential customers.
   
Q10: Can you guarantee our sales performance if we advertise with TVBS-E?
A: There is no guarantee on an advertiser’s sales performance, as there are many factors affecting the outcome (i.e. product nature, price, distribution network, timing etc.). However, we can guarantee that your advertising messages will deliver to all active TVBS-E viewers within 48 countries in Europe.
